Frequently asked questions

Got questions? I’ve got answers.

  • Counseling sessions are a safe space focused entirely on you—your story, your challenges, and your goals. It’s a place for you to let your guard down and be unapologetically you. Together, we’ll explore what’s weighing on you and identify what you need. We’ll explore options for growth and healing while building practical tools for balance and clarity. Each session is warm, collaborative, and tailored to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered.

  • Here’s how it works: sessions are held through a private, HIPAA-compliant video platform that you can access from your phone, tablet, or computer. All you need is a quiet space and a reliable internet connection. Together, we’ll create a safe and supportive environment—even from a distance—so you can focus fully on your healing and growth. No matter where you are in California, support is just a click away.

  • Soon! We are expanding our practice to include in person sessions starting January 2026.

  • Initial Session: 80 Minutes $300

Regular Sessions: 50 minute are $195-$250.

MDFT Sessions: 80 minute sessions are $295-$375.

  • That depends on your insurance. We’re not in-network with any insurance providers. You could be reimbursed for our services if your plan has out-of-network coverage.

We use a service called Thrizer to help you get reimbursed for out-of-network services at our practice. Just tell us you want to explore insurance reimbursement, and we’ll get you set up.scription

  • Taking the first step into therapy can feel both courageous and uncertain—and that’s okay. Our first appointment will be 80 minutes, allowing extra time to dive in. We’ll take time to get to know each other and talk through what brings you here. You’ll have space to share your story at your own pace—there’s no pressure to have it all figured out. Together, we’ll explore your goals, what you’re hoping to change or heal, and what support would feel most helpful.

I’ll also walk you through how therapy works, answer any questions, and outline what our time together might look like moving forward. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and encouraged from the very beginning. This is your time, and your journey—and I’ll be here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

  • By the time you’re reaching out, the challenges you’re facing are often layered and can’t be solved in just one session. At The Courage Well, the first couple of sessions are about slowing down, hearing your story, and understanding where you feel stuck. By the third session, you’ll begin receiving specific feedback and tools to help you move forward. From there, we’ll track your progress together, celebrate your growth, and equip you with strategies to sustain lasting change.

  • As part of the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) explaining the expected cost of your care. A GFE is not a bill—it’s simply an estimate of the fees you may reasonably expect to pay for therapy services at The Courage Well. We will identify goals in the first session, which will define the terms of the GFE.

  • The short answer, no. We really wish we could but our therapists are only licensed in California. Reach out to us for a referral if you live outside of California, we have worked with some really great therapists in the United States and would love to send you their way!
